Item Description

For this project, I decided I would use three mediums: calligraphy, acrylic, and colored pencil. Rather than intermingle the three across the whole paper, I would just divide the paper into three segments. If I used all the mediums intermingled together, I feared that the acrylic might take away from the pencil and calligraphy in such a way that it would be difficult to tell they were even used.

The split stemmed from the center of the face so that it could be made with each of the three mediums. If I chose downward segments, like columns, then only the center medium would make up the main part of the piece, which I did not want. The background was inspired by simple patterns from India, since that is where bengal tigers come from. I chose a simple pattern both for time constraints and because I did not want a complicated pattern to take away from the face of the tiger.
